Making Moves Institute for HBCU Access

Year-Round College Access and Student Readiness

The Making Moves Institute for HBCU Access is Kids 1st Foundation’s year-round college access and student readiness program for young people preparing for life after high school.

The Institute provides structured guidance, accountability, and support to help students strengthen their academic preparation, understand the college process, and take meaningful steps toward higher education and long-term success.

Students receive support in areas such as college readiness, scholarship preparation, financial aid awareness, academic planning, leadership development, personal growth, and transition planning.

The goal of the Institute is simple: help students move from interest to preparation, from preparation to opportunity, and from opportunity to action.

Who Should Sign Up

The Making Moves Institute for HBCU Access is for students who are serious about preparing for college and want support with understanding the college process, strengthening their academic file, applying to college, understanding financial aid, finding scholarships, and taking the steps needed to become stronger college applicants.

Students must be willing to participate, communicate, complete assignments, ask questions, and take the process seriously.

Too many students move through high school without a clear plan for what they should be doing each year to prepare for college. By the time senior year arrives, many realize they have not built the grades, resume, essays, recommendations, scholarship materials, or financial aid awareness needed to be competitive.

The Institute helps students prepare earlier and move with more intention. Students learn where they stand, what colleges expect, and what steps they need to take each year to become stronger college applicants.

Students do not need to have everything figured out before they begin. They do need to be open to guidance, accountability, and growth.
